Property Accountant's; get to know.

What does a Property Accountant do?  

There are a number of different accounting specialists in the property sector and therefore you could be involved in credit control, purchase ledger, reconciliation, expenditure analysis, annual returns, deposit management, contractor invoicing, rental income, or service charge budgeting to name just a few. 

What qualifications do they require?  

It is considered hugely advantageous to undergo your ACCA qualification if you are looking to enter an accounting position; some of our clients have been known to support their employees to complete this which will prove beneficial to your career growth and responsibility.  

What is their market value?  

A junior accountant can be looking at £20-25,000 in the property market in London depending on their level of knowledge. Completing your ACCA will add to your market value and allow you the opportunity to grow within your specialism; managers tend to earn a minimum of £35,000 when responsible for a small team and can earn north of £45,000 when responsible for a large portfolio and upon completion of 5 years’ experience.  

What are the working hours/shift pattern?  

Typically, property accountants can expect a fairly routine schedule between the normal hours of 8 or 9 am – 5 or 6 pm, however, it is not uncommon to be required to work additional hours during busier periods.
