What do you know about Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) in the workplace?

As employers are becoming increasingly aware of the importance and significance of EDI in the workplace, it’s likely you’re beginning to hear and read about its’ concept more and more frequently, and this is great progress. However, it is not a new concept, and employers must ensure they hold themselves accountable for practicing what they preach by fully embracing and building EDI into their company ethos, training, and values from the top to the bottom of their business. Whilst posting and sharing about it is a step in the right direction, the real action is needed and company leaders are responsible for setting the standards and maintaining the attention toward consistent positive action.

So, what does it mean?

Equity represents the importance of acknowledging that everyone has different needs based on their personal experiences and characteristics. By ensuring flexibility to adjust according to individual circumstances, individuals are offered equal access to opportunities.

Diversity is recognising, valuing, and respecting each other's differences. A diverse environment will involve and include a wide range of backgrounds and mindsets, creating an innovative and creative culture.

Inclusion means creating an environment where everyone feels welcome and valued, ensuring you provide equal access to opportunities and resources. All individuals should be treated fairly and respectfully and will be valued for their distinctive skills, experiences, and perspectives.

At GKR London, we are working closely with Adam Tobias, Co-Founder of Inventum Group who are leaders in inclusive talent solutions, to ensure we continue to evolve our EDI practices and to provide our team with the tools and resources to support our clients with their EDI journeys, becoming more inclusive employer brands.

Creating an equal, diverse, and inclusive company culture will offer your business numerous benefits, and research has proven that it’s these employers that have proven an increased ability to recruit and attract a larger talent pool, maintain greater employee retention, increase their revenue growth, and innovate more effectively; we will cover more on these topics in our upcoming articles.

GKR London is passionate about equity, diversity, and inclusion. We seek individuals from the widest talent pool and encourage underrepresented talent to apply for vacancies with us. We are committed to recruitment processes that are fair to all, regardless of background and personal characteristics.

Contact our team today if we can support you with your EDI and recruitment strategy.
