Edward has worked in the recruitment sector for more than 20 years; combined with more than 10 years’ experience in property we are very excited to partner together and for the results he will bring! Read what he has to say about the move.
1. Edward, partnering with GKR London, what excited you most?
“When I was introduced to GKR London and Grant Kaveney, I was fascinated by his dynamism. We shared a lot of interests and knew a lot of the same people which naturally allowed us to sing off the same hymn sheet. GKR already has an extensive network and has received investment and backing from James Caan and Recruitment Entrepreneur which was very exciting too; having supported a variety of different Recruitment companies in all sorts of sectors there is a lot that can be learnt.”
2. What do you believe has been your key to success?
“Honesty & Trust. I don’t mean to be cliché by saying so but I take great pride in my work and my ability to build lasting relationships with the people that I work with. In doing so my clients can trust that I am working within a market I feel confident in, they can trust my ability to source them someone suitable and they can trust I will work within the guidelines and timeframes that we choose to agree, together.”
3. After recruiting for mid – level positions, what obstacles did you face when climbing the organigram?
“Earlier on in my recruitment career, I would speak with hiring managers to obtain a checklist of information about the job itself; the position, the interview process and the type of person they are looking for. Now, I can’t remember the last time I was involved in a conversation like this. Naturally I always wanted to dig a little deeper which made the transition a lot easier for me. Now, my conversations are based around the recruitment strategy, their success and concerns, staff retention, offer to accept ratio, their best and worst experiences with recruiters etc. I listen to them and it helps me understand them, I can offer my opinion and our chances of success are increased.”
