The Shard, London

The Shard is a 72-storey mixed use development supertall skyscraper, designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, in Southwark, London.

The Eiffel Tower, France

The Eiffel Tower is a wrought-iron lattice tower on the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It is named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel, whose company designed and built the tower from 1887 to 1889.

Taj Mahal, India

The Taj Mahal is an Islamic religious building, mosque and tomb in India. It was built in the 17th century by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife, Mumtaz Mahal.

The Forbidden City, China

The Forbidden City was constructed from 1406 to 1420, and was the former Chinese imperial palace and winter residence of the Emperor of China. It is one of the largest and most well-preserved wooden structures in the world.

The Petronas Towers, Kuala Lumpur

The Petronas Towers are the world's tallest twin skyscrapers with a tube-in-tube structural system design, invented by architect Fazlur Rahman Khan.

20 Fenchurch St, London

Nicknamed "The Walkie-Talkie"; designed by architect Rafael Viñoly and costing over £200 million, 20 Fenchurch Street features a highly distinctive top-heavy form which appears to burst upward and outward.

Tower Bridge, London

Tower Bridge is a Grade I listed combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, built between 1886 and 1894, designed by Horace Jones and engineered by John Wolfe Barry.

The Gherkin, London

The Gherkin, formally 30 St Mary Axe, is a commercial skyscraper in London's primary financial district designed by Foster + Partners and the Arup Group.

World Financial Center, Shanghai

The Shanghai World Financial Center was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox and developed by the Mori Building Company The SWFC has been lauded for its design, and in 2008 it was named by architects as the year's best-completed skyscraper.

The Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai

The Oriental Pearl Radio & Television Tower has fifteen observatory levels. It was completed on October 1, 1994, and put into use on May 1, 1995; the highest level (known as the Space Module) is at 351 metres (1,150 ft).
