Statement of Work

Defined recruitment outcomes, agreed milestones, and clear accountability from brief to completion.

Recruitment structured around what needs to be delivered.

A Statement of Work (SOW) engagement structures recruitment around defined outcomes rather than individual roles. Instead of a straightforward "find me a person" brief, a SOW sets out what needs to be achieved, by when, and how success is measured at each stage. Both parties agree the scope, the milestones, and the deliverables before work begins.

This model suits situations where clarity and accountability matter as much as the hire itself. It works well for project-based requirements, volume hiring programmes, new market entry, and any situation where a client needs to manage a hiring budget against defined outcomes.

When SOW makes sense:

When a Statement of Work is the right approach:

  • You are opening a new office, launching into a new market, or building a team to a deadline.
  • You are running a volume hiring programme and need structured delivery with clear milestones rather than an open-ended brief.
  • You want full transparency into what the recruitment process looks like at each stage, including what GKR and the client commit to.
  • You are working to a fixed budget and need outcome certainty before spend is committed.
  • You are managing an internal stakeholder who needs formal reporting on hiring progress.

The process:

We begin by agreeing on the scope of the engagement: what needs to be delivered, the timeline, the roles involved, and how success will be measured. Both parties sign off on the brief before any search activity starts.

We set out a delivery timeline with agreed milestones. Each stage is tracked and reported against, so you have clear visibility throughout the engagement. There are no surprises at the end; progress is shared as it happens.

Candidate sourcing and assessment follow the same approach as all GKR mandates, with the added layer of formal reporting and milestone sign-off at each stage. Candidates are assessed against the agreed profile before being presented.

At the end of the engagement, we review outcomes against the agreed brief. Where a placement is made, our standard post-placement support applies. Where the brief changes during the project, we document the change and agree the impact on timelines before proceeding.

What is included in a GKR SOW engagement:

  • A written scope of work agreed before search activity begins
  • Defined milestones with dates and deliverables for each stage
  • Regular progress reporting against the agreed timeline
  • Full candidate assessment and briefing before presentation
  • Offer management and post-placement check-in
  • A close-out summary comparing outcomes to the agreed brief
